About

I’m going to be in a great many interesting places looking at art and architecture from the perspective of someone whose research interests lie in the 12th-15th centuries. I always keep a journal when travelling, and it occurred to me that it might make an interesting blog for the college.

I’ll be visiting Istanbul, Western Turkey, the Eastern Greek Islands, Burgundy and Germany. The Greek/Turkish part of the trip is formally “work” as I’m leading a tour for an archaeological and cultural travel company; we’ll be traveling on a traditional Turkish sailing ship. The European part of the summer will involve visiting museums, churches and archives for the most part, looking for bits and pieces of my next research project.
