Stephanie Strockis '11 | March 25, 2009April is shaping up to be one of 8th dimension’s busiest months, with so many great volunteer opportunities just in the first two weeks! We’re sure there is one with your name on it.
April 1st:
Make Dunbar Elementary Shine- Take up a paint brush on your wide open Wednesday and help improve the conditions of this public school in North Philly for its students! Shifts are 9:00am to 12:00pm or 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Contact Stephanie Strockis at sstrocki at haverford.edu for more info.
April 3rd:
Millcreek Farm- Help prepare for spring planting at this urban farm in West Philly that utilizes vacant land to improve local access to nutritious foods and to promote sustainable resource use by growing and distributing produce and by demonstrating ecological methods of living. Event is from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Contact Milla Sanes at asanes at haverford.edu for more info.
Arc of Philadelphia First Friday Dance- It’s a huge party! Come dance the night away with people with developmental disabilities who Arc caters to in the Philadelphia community. DJs, dance-offs, dinner, and volunteering! The event is from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, but you won’t want the night to end. Contact Stephanie Strockis at sstrocki at haverford.edu for more info.
April 4th:
The Philly Spring Cleanup- Join the mayor and thousands of other volunteers for this city wide cleanup from 9:00am to 2:00pm. It’s one of the biggest Philadelphia volunteer days of the year and it needs you! Contact Lea Moukarzel at lmoukarz at haverford.edu for more info.
April 11th:
8th Dimension Annual Easter Egg Hunt- Help kids from our community hunt for eggs and a do arts and crafts on a beautiful day. Lots of volunteers needed for this Haverford event which takes place from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Founder’s Green. Contact 8dstaff at haverford.edu for more info.
Hunger Walk- Get a group of friends together, raise money and walk for a great cause! The money raised at the Walk Against Hunger is distributed to organizations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey that provide food and other services to families and individuals.
